THIRD GENERATION AVANZA
The third generation Avanza was launched on November 10 2021. Unlike the two previous generations which used a U-IMV chassis with semi-unibody construction with a rear-wheel drive layout, this third generation uses a DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture) chassis of the DNGA-B type, which full-unibody construction with a front-wheel drive layout. The development itself was led by Eiji Fujibayashi, chief engineer from Daihatsu. The exterior dimensions are 205 mm longer (8.1 in) and 70 mm (2.8 in) wider, creating a much larger footprint compared to the previous generation. The wheelbase itself is 95 mm (3.7 in) longer and the interior space is 160 mm (6.3 in) longer. Even though it has a longer body, the turning radius has only increased slightly to 4.9 m (16.1 ft) and the weight is claimed to be 45 kg (99 lb) lighter.
